Beyond the Finish Line: VCU students engineer safer supports for winter para-athletes

A team of four biomedical engineering seniors from VCU’s College of Engineering earned third place at the 2026 Project S.E.R.V.E. National Design Competition for developing a high-performance residual limb warmer designed for winter para-athletes.

Held at Virginia Tech, the annual competition challenges students to create adaptive solutions tailored to real-world needs faced by injured veterans and para athletes.
