ECE Cadets Aid Disabled Veteran with Capstone Project

Eight cadets from Virginia Military Institute’s Electrical and Computer Engineering program recently presented a capstone project developed in partnership with Project S.E.R.V.E. to support Army veteran Jeremy Davis.

Working throughout the academic year, the cadets designed custom hardware and software to improve accessibility for Davis’ motorized over-the-bed workstation, allowing him to control the position of his monitor and keyboard directly from his computer or phone.

The project combined hands-on engineering with a deeply personal mission: helping improve independence and everyday comfort for veteran living with severe service-related injuries.
