QL Plus Rebrands as Project S.E.R.V.E. to Better Reflect the Mission of Engineering Solutions for Veterans and Emergency Responders
MIAMI (September 22, 2025) — QL Plus, the national nonprofit that empowers engineering students to design solutions for veterans and emergency responders with injuries or disabling conditions, today announced it has rebranded as Project S.E.R.V.E. — Student Engineering for Resilience of Veterans and Emergency Responders.
The new name and logo reflects continuity of mission while more clearly communicating the organization’s dual focus: helping those who have served and protected our country regain quality of life, and training the next generation of engineers to approach design with empathy and purpose.
“Project S.E.R.V.E. embodies who we are: students engineering real-world solutions with empathy, creativity, and respect for the veterans and emergency responders we serve,” said Tara Newell, Executive Director of Project S.E.R.V.E. “Our new name and logo makes our mission clear to every student, donor, and partner who joins us. It ensures the legacy of service continues in classrooms, labs, and communities across the country.”
Since its founding in 2009, the organization has helped over 1,300 veterans and first responders, and engaged 2,000 students from universities nationwide, including: The George Washington University, the U.S. Naval Academy, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Ohio University, the University of Cincinnati, the University of Dayton, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Texas at San Antonio, the University of South Florida, San Diego State University, the University of Colorado Boulder, Virginia Tech, and many others.
“The rebrand to Project S.E.R.V.E. positions us for the future,” said LTC Robert (Bob) Wolff, Ph.D., USA (Ret.), Project S.E.R.V.E. Board Chair, and a nationally recognized civil engineer and former QL Plus Executive Director. ”Donors, universities, and corporate partners can immediately see that our program supports practical engineering solutions that respond to each individual’s condition. This new name will inspire greater investment and broader support for the work ahead.”
